  1. my older brother got me this book as a present. it is an invaluable resource! i own craft, inc. Craft, Inc.: Turn Your Creative Hobby into a Business as well as this one, and i have to say while craft, inc. is easier to flip through (smaller size, cute illustrations, etc). how to start a home-based craft biz is hands-down helpful!! it has templates and charts for invoices, business plans, and more. it has questionaires for determining your target market. it helps you decide what form of corporation you want your itty biz to be. it talks about choosing a name that doesn’t lock you into a crafting niche. this book is meat & bones- in the best way possible. yes, it can be a bit daunting, but the book is holding your hand the whole way through. explaining that you can deduct percentages of your rent, utlities, etc for the square footage of your home biz. he even talks about wholesaling and cash vs. accural accounting. it is worth it’s weight in gold. and ken, the author, is a real woodworker- so he is talking from experience and sharing his trade tips he learned by being out there.

i love this book. i never write reviews, but when i saw this book only had one lonesome review and wasn’t being over-the-top praised, i felt compelled.
